What makes it special?
The Mega MIDI is not an emulator. It runs on genuine hardware chips:
- Yamaha YM3438 (CMOS version of the YM2612) — the authentic FM synthesis chip
- SN76489 PSG — the original programmable sound generator, also on-board
The instrument patches are not "sound-alikes" — they are one-for-one copies with identical settings to those found in the original games. You are playing the actual patches on authentic hardware.
